Everton want Florentino Luis transfer as £25.5m bid tabled in new Benfica update

An unnamed Premier League club have submitted a £25.5million bid for Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, with Everton among those interested, according to Record.

The Portuguese newspaper reported in its print edition [6 June, pg 9] that £25.5million is the “minimum amount” Benfica had considered to begin negotiations.

Everton risk missing out on Florentino Luis transfer

As Everton navigates a transfer window which could see them lose much more than they gain, the club’s finances could prevent them from coming close to the £25.5million offered for Florentino by a mystery club.

Assuming that club is not them, it’s difficult to see how Sean Dyche would be able to secure the signature of such an expensive player without first seeing his squad undergo serious changes [Liverpool World].

Defensive midfield appears to be one of the few areas in which the stocks are somewhat high at Goodison Park, following the extension of Idrissa Gueye’s contract.

The departure of Andre Gomes on a free transfer will, however, necessitate a replacement, but it may take the sale of a player like Amadou Onana, valued at £50million, to free up any financial leeway for the Toffees to bring in Florentino [HITC].

With Onana on his way to EURO 2024 with Belgium and looking to impress while in Germany, any deal for the 22-year-old looks a long way off, potentially hampering any progress Everton can hope to make in their pursuit of their top target [Het Laatste Nieuws].
