Analyst Notes Interesting Observation From Caleb Williams In Practice

 

Quarterback Caleb Williams’ first OTA period is currently underway in Chicago.

For Bears fans, it will be a breath of fresh air to hopefully see some type of competent quarterback play.

During OTAs, reporters and fans alike have seen Williams make plays.

Some of those great plays have to do with Williams’ set-up and delivery of the throw.

During his set-up, NFL insider Mike Kadlick has noticed something about Williams that might set him apart from most quarterbacks.

“Something I’ve noticed about Caleb Williams is how wide he keeps his non-throwing hand fingers on the ball. Feel like that’s a ball security thing. Should be taught more often,” Kadlick recently tweeted.

The Chicago Bears seemingly finally have a talented quarterback that wants to take care of the football.

In college, at both USC and Oklahoma, Williams threw just 14 interceptions.

Not to mention that he threw for a total of 93 touchdowns across his three collegiate seasons.

Chicago fans have had their fair share of pain watching the likes of Jay Cutler, Mitch Trubisky, Justin Fields, Matt Barkley, Rex Grossman, Nick Foles, Andy Dalton, Jimmy Clausen, Mike Glennon, and so many others fail in their quest to deliver a championship and competitive play to the city.

Williams feels different.

He also won’t be doing it alone this year.

The wide receiver core and overall offensive talent has improved from a season ago.

The likes of Keenan Allen, D.J. Moore, Rome Odunze, D’Andre Swift, and Cole Kmet will be there to guide Williams as well.

But in the end, it’s his talent and mechanics that will take him far.
