FIRED: Former Seahawks scout……..

Former Seahawks scout, executive Scott Fitterer fired as Panthers GM

The Panthers had the worst record in the NFL in 2023.

It’s Black Monday, which means a lot of NFL coaches and front office personnel are set to lose their jobs after disappointing seasons/tenures with their respective teams. We don’t know what awaits for staff on the Seattle Seahawks, but we do know one of their former front office assistants has just been canned in Charlotte.

The Carolina Panthers, who already sent Frank Reich packing in the middle of his first season as head coach, have fired Scott Fitterer after a brutal three-year run as the team’s General Manager. By David Tepper standards, Fitterer lasting three years in that organization is like 20 years on a normal team.

While Tepper’s history of micro-management and piling up pink slips is well-established, it’s not like Fitterer didn’t play a role in his eventual departure. Carolina is just 14-37 since 2021, and barring significant improvement from Bryce Young, it’s looking like none of his draft classes will be all that impressive. Carolina would’ve had the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft if not for trading their first-rounder to move up to take Young, which in itself appears to have been pushed by Tepper, but they also gave up star wide receiver D.J. Moore to the Chicago Bears.
