Everton send heartfelt message to former striker Kevin Campbell, who’s taken ill

Everton say they’re sending all their love to former striker Kevin Campbell after he was taken ill.

The Liverpool Echo have reported that the 54-year-old has sadly been taken to hospital after falling ill last week.

Campbell started his career at Arsenal and initially joined the Toffees in 1999 on loan from Turkish side Trabzonspor.

He then made his move to Goodison Park permanent that summer and made 160 appearances for the club in total, scoring 50 goals.

Amid the sad news, Everton took to social media to send their best wishes to Campbell, as well as his family.

On X, they said: “We have been made aware our former striker Kevin Campbell is currently very unwell.

“Not just a great footballer but an incredible person, Kevin is, and always has been, a fighter and we wish him and his family well at this challenging time. Sending all our love.”

Campbell’s former teammate at Arsenal Ray Parlour also sent a heartfelt message to the ex-striker.

“I hear my ex-teammate Kevin Campbell is struggling at the moment,” he said in a video on X.

“All your friends and family, all the football family are right behind you Kev. I know you’re a strong character mate, stay positive.

“I’m sure everybody is on your side trying to help you, so hopefully get well soon mate and you’ll be back flying as usual.”

Alongside his spells at Arsenal and Everton, Campbell also featured for Nottingham Forest, West Brom and Cardiff.
