DISHEARTENING: Recently Fired Coach……

Cowboys Will Reportedly Interview Recently Fired Coach

With former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn accepting the job as the new head coach of the Washington Commanders, the Dallas Cowboys have an opening, which is an attractive position with the opportunity to coach superstar linebacker Micah Parsons and one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Unfortunately, many of the best candidates for defensive coordinator have already been hired, but there are still some options.

One of those options is Mike Zimmer, formerly of the Minnesota Vikings, who the Cowboys have already interviewed for the open position.

According to Jonathan Jones of NFL on CBS, another option for Dallas is former Commanders head coach Ron Rivera.

They plan to interview Rivera soon.

After an epic collapse in the NFL playoffs, losing convincingly to the upstart Green Bay Packers at A&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the Cowboys headed into the offseason with the consensus that there would be some significant changes.

Firstly, it was thought that head coach Mike McCarthy was on the hot seat and more than likely to be fired, but that didn’t turn out to be the case as he was given a vote of confidence by the team’s brass and retained for next season.

As for Quinn, he was the favorite to land the head coaching job with the Seattle Seahawks after Pete Carroll unexpectedly assumed another role with the franchise. As stated earlier, Quinn recently took the job with the Commanders, which left some big shoes to fill in Dallas, with Rivera having his hands full if he ends up getting hired by the Cowboys.
