Coventry binman death inquest sees jury retire to consider conclusion

A jury in an inquest into the death of a Coventry binman has retired to consider its conclusion. City council employee David Carpenter, 60, died on January 19, 2023 at Guild Road in Foleshill.

He suffered fatal injuries after being lifted into a bin lorry compactor, area coroner Delroy Henry told jurors at the inquest’s opening last week (Tuesday, April 9.) CCTV of the incident was shown to the jury that day.In the days since then, jurors have heard from a number of witnesses. Evidence was summarised by Mr Henry at a hearing today (Friday 19 April) before the jury was sent out to reach a decision.
