BREAKING: Steelers troll Jaguars over Horrendous Towel celebration….

Look: Steelers troll Jaguars over Terrible Towel celebration

The Jacksonville Jaguars loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday not only eliminated the Jaguars from playoff contention, it also clinched a playoff spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers used that opportunity to troll the Jaguars over their Week 8 Terrible Towel celebration in the Jaguars’ 20-10 win over the Steelers.

During that win, several Jaguars players were seen waving – and stomping on – Terrible Towels at Acrisure Stadium. After clinching their postseason spot, the Steelers quoted a Jaguars social media post from that game that featured Jaguars defender Andrew Wingard waving a Terrible Towel, saying “When will yinz learn.”

The Jaguars have gone 3-6 since winning that Week 8 contest while their loss on Sunday put the Steelers in the playoffs.

The Terrible Towel has been the symbol of Steelers fans since the 1970s and the team loves to point out the failures of opponents when they mock it. Back in 2005, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh famously wiped his cleats with a Terrible Towel in the tunnel leading to the locker room in Pittsburgh following a win. The Steelers ended up beating the Bengals in the playoffs later that winter on their way to their Super Bowl XL win over the Seattle Seahawks.

In 2008 former Tennessee Titans running back Lendale White stomped on a Terrible Towel following a regular-season win over the Steelers. The Titans ended up losing their first playoff game, giving the Steelers home field advantage in the AFC Championship game. The Steelers went on to win Super Bowl XLIII over the Arizona Cardinals.

The Steelers probably do not have a Super Bowl run in them this season with their current roster, especially without superstar defensive player T.J. Watt, but they are in the playoffs thanks entirely to the Jaguars losing on Sunday.
