Both Liverpool and Everton have a clearer picture in the transfer window after the Premier League confirmed the dates for the summer and winter markets.

The Reds and Blues have been forced to make a number of changes in recent years after looking to compete with the free-spenders in the English top-flight.

Last summer, Liverpool made wholesale changes in the midfield with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister making their way through the door. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho departed which made way for the arrival of Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.

Across Stanley Park, Everton have had to tighten their belt under Sean Dyche and were forced to navigate the transfer window stringently.

The transfer window closes on Friday, August 30 at 11pm after closing in September last year. It has been confirmed that the date has been set in conjunction with major leagues in Europe following discussions with the EFL and the respective Germany, Spain, Italy and France governing bodies.

The last January transfer window was one of the quietest on record in the Premier League. With the points deduction for Everton and the threat of one for Nottingham Forest, top-flight clubs were tightening their belts amid concerns over straying over the line and landing a penalty.

It remains to be seen what the landscape of the Premier League will be in January but the threat of Saudi Arabia’s riches remains prevalent and they could look to snap up another key name from the region at the turn of the year.
