Polarizing 3rd-Year Starter Floated as Broncos’ Best Starting QB Option in 2024

In light of the poorly thought out trade for Russell Wilson, the Denver Broncos ought to think twice before executing another big-time quarterback move.

Unfazed, Travis Wakeman of Predominantly Orange named Justin Fields, the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears, as Denver’s best candidate for the starting position in 2024.

“Fields has not played bad for a Bears team that lacks overall talent,” Wakeman said in his essay dated January 14. “He can make big plays, especially with his feet, but he does turn the ball over a little too often. Basically, all of the things that Josh Allen gets credits for. As of right now, I think Fields is the best running quarterback in the NFL, even better than Lamar Jackson.

During a victory at Soldier Field in Week 4, the Broncos had a front-row seat to witness Fields. In the 31-28 loss to Denver, Fields completed his first 16 attempts and recorded his first-ever 300-yard passing performance.

Wakeman understands the cost of such a move but believes the long-term benefit would be worth it for the Broncos.

Wakeman stated, “It’s a move that could change the direction of the franchise and be the positive change that the team has been searching for for close to a decade. The Broncos would almost certainly have to part with their first-round pick plus other picks or players.”
