Bengals need to capitalize on Chiefs’ mistakes if they want to win AFC title rematch
The Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs will square off in Week 17 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in a replay of the previous two AFC Championship Games.
To be honest, when Joe Burrow was out for the season more than a month ago, this game lost a lot of its appeal. Nevertheless, there are still many additional objectives for both sides to pursue than just bragging rights. A victory over the Chiefs would secure their division for the ninth consecutive season, while a victory by the Bengals at Arrowhead would maintain their chances of making the playoffs.
I contacted Matt Conner of Arrowhead Addict, FanSided’s website devoted to the Kansas City Chiefs, to gain additional insight into the team, which has been having a lot of trouble lately. Matt and I talked about the Chiefs’ current issues, the opinions of the fans, and his predictions for this game.
Among the most important points Matt made was that the Chiefs are a team that frequently shoots itself in the foot. He stated that they ought to be able to hand the Bengals a possible season-ending defeat if they can manage to stay away from accomplishing so this week. See the full transcript of our talk below.
Q&A for Bengals vs. Chiefs, Week 17
What issue is the Chiefs facing the most at this difficult time?
Matt If you had to narrow it down to just one thing, it would seem tough to do so, but if you had to, it would seem like the loss of so many seasoned parts over the past year. It just got too hard to recover from the loss of experienced coaches and players, including the Tyreek deal, Frank Clark’s release, Eric Bieniemy’s departure for Washington, an extremely green wide receiver room, and two new tackles. The defense has continued to be effective, but the offense in particular and the squad as a whole have lost games after games due to careless errors and poor communication.
