Since Christmas, tenants have endured freezing temperatures due to a malfunctioning heating system that has yet to be repaired. Many say they’ve resorted to space heaters and blankets to stay warm, but now they face the added stress of displacement.
The complex, owned by a property management company yet to address the persistent heating failure, has issued notices requiring tenants to move out temporarily. However, residents argue that the company is evading accountability. “They’ve known about the heating issue for weeks,” said Mary Johnson, a mother of two. “Now they want us to leave instead of fixing the problem. It’s unfair and unsafe.”
