Newcastle plan two summer appointments and trip to £850m camp
According to Craig Hope at The Mail, Newcastle United plan to appoint a new sporting director AND a performance director this summer.
He reports that our behind-the-scenes restructure will continue this summer, despite Dan Ashworth’s exit, with Toon chiefs keen to bring in a performance director able to oversee the analysis of science, medicine, psychology and performance within the club.
After a season from hell on the injury front, the club are ‘determined’ to have a less disruptive 2024/25 and learn from our mistakes this term. As for the sporting director, Crystal Palace’s Dougie Freedman remains the favourite for the vacant role, which will be filled soon after Sunday’s final game at Brentford.
In the same ‘exclusive’ for The Mail, Hope also reveals that Eddie Howe’s Mags will be spending a part of our pre-season preparations at Adidas’ headquarters in Germany.
EzoicThe sportswear giant will become the club’s official kit supplier this summer and the squad will visit their £850m World of Sports facility in July before returning to the UK and flying to Japan for two friendly matches.
Our time in Germany could feature a friendly, but that is yet to be signed off as our pre-season plans begin to take shape.
