Newcastle United may have been handed their second shot at signing Raphinha, with Barcelona considering selling him.
That’s according to Sport, who cover the Brazilian today and ‘patience is running out’ at Barcelona over his failure to kick on under Xavi.
The newspaper explains how Barcelona hoped the winger would kick on this season, particularly as he’s been handed a first-team spot after Ousmane Dembele joined Paris Saint Germain in the summer.
They ignored bids in the summer for the Brazilian as Deco, his agent who is now director of football, had endorsed him and insisted that he would be a bet for the future.
The reality, though, is that he’s yet to prove worth of the €58m that Barcelona paid for him, and they would now look more favourably on bids for him.
That might be of interest to Newcastle, who made a ‘very important offer’ for him in the summer that was rejected by Barcelona and the player himself.
The situation is now different, and they may be more willing to accept such a big offer were Raphinha not to improve in the coming months.
In other words, Barcelona would be more than willing to accept a second Newcastle bid for the player should they wish to make one at any point, with a growing belief at Camp Nou that they won’t ever get the player they thought they would.
