Former Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew believes Newcastle “could be interested” in a January loan move for Roberto Firmino.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s January transfer window show alongside Ally McCoist and Alex Crook, Pardew was asked about rumours linking the former Liverpool star with a return to the Premier League.
The Brazilian joined Allan Saint-Maximin at Al Ahli over the summer, but it’s been reported that he could leave the Middle East giants this month following their winter break.
Pardew can’t see Arsenal signing the South American, but thinks his character and quality could see Eddie Howe take a look, saying “Newcastle would be a nice spot for him.”
“I don’t see that [Arsenal],“ he said. “They have Jesus there and that’s the same role really.
“But he is a top player and character. The morale compass that he has got going is great. You can bring him in and you know everyone is going to love him. The fans as well. He’s a good signing.
