A full day of festive fun is planned for Chorley town centre for the Christmas lights switch-on and Christmas market.

Shane Lynch, one member of former band Boyzone, was announced to be turning on the lights earlier this month. Now, it has been announced that he will be joined by fellow Boyzone bandmate Keith Duffy along with former Westlife member, Brian McFadden.

The lights will be turned on at 5pm, following an afternoon of entertainment on the Market Street stage from 1pm, hosted by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver.

Here’s the festive line-up:

  • 10am – 6pm – Totally Locally Chorley Christmas Market will be in the town centre with independent traders, children’s rides and an opportunity to meet Santa.
  • 10am – 3pm – Some stalls on Chorley’s covered market will be open, with the 1498 food and drink area open until 6pm.
  • From 1pm there’ll be entertainment on the Market Street stage hosted by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver. Performers include artists from Inspire Youth Zone, Red Rosettes Show Chorus, DLN Dance, James B Partridge, local singer – Lauren Wood, Young Elton – Elton John Tribute.
  • 4.45pm – special guests will be talking to Graham Liver ahead of the big switch on.
  • 5:00pm – Christmas Lights Switch On with Shane Lynch, Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy accompanied on stage by players and representatives from Chorley FC to join in the festivities.

A spokesperson for Chorley Council said: “Fellow Boyzone bandmate Keith Duffy along with former Westlife member, Brian McFadden, who together are Boyzlife, will be joining Shane Lynch, to do the honours of turning Chorley’s Christmas Lights On.

“Shane, Keith and Brian play integral roles in enhancing the visibility of the Chorley FC and helping drive the commercial side of operations.

“The event is sponsored by Chorley Eats, with the big switch-on taking place at 5pm following an afternoon of fantastic stage entertainment hosted by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver from 1pm.
