Legendary synth-rock band Depeche Mode is set to captivate fans worldwide with the upcoming release of their expressive and emotionally-charged cinematic film, “Depeche Mode: M.”

The feature-length project, conceptualized and directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías, brings to life a profound musical journey interwoven with intimate archival footage and exclusive interstitials from Depeche Mode’s electrifying performances during their 2023-2024 Memento Mori Tour in Mexico City.

Shot during the band’s three sold-out concerts at the iconic Foro Sol Stadium, Depeche Mode: M is more than just a concert film—it’s a vivid celebration of music, culture, and the enduring human spirit. With nearly 200,000 passionate fans in attendance across the shows, the film captures the spiritual energy and deep emotional resonance shared between the band and its audience.

Frías, best known for the critically acclaimed I’m No Longer Here, brings his distinct cinematic voice to this project. His award-winning film earned 10 Ariel Awards, including Best Picture and Best Direction, and was Mexico’s official Oscar submission in 2021. His latest film, I Don’t Expect Anyone to Believe Me, premiered to critical acclaim, further cementing his reputation as one of Mexico’s most visionary filmmakers.

Through Frías’ lens, Depeche Mode: M explores the thematic connections between the band’s latest album, Memento Mori, and Mexico’s cultural relationship with death and mortality. This poignant exploration ties together the band’s introspective lyrics and the colorful, symbolic traditions of Día de los Muertos, creating a universally resonant story of love, loss, and legacy.

Produced by Columbia Records, Anonymous Content, and REDRUM, and distributed by Sony Music Vision, Depeche Mode: M will premiere in theaters later this year. The film arrives on the heels of the band’s critically acclaimed Memento Mori album and its massive world tour, which played to more than 3 million fans across 112 shows globally.

With Depeche Mode: M, the band continues to evolve its legacy, proving once again that music transcends borders, language, and time.
