Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson performed a show straight from nostalgia land as they celebrated the tenth anniversary of Nelson’s touring festival, Outlaw.
The music legends brought the music festival back to the Hollywood Bowl for second year in a row on Friday night, May 16th.
Dylan and his band, keeping up with the theme dressed in black, and got on the stage as it lit up to highlight his magical instrument, his piano.
The 83-year-old Grammy winner opened his set with Things Have Changed and kept it characteristically unpredictable throughout, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
The Blowin’ In The Wind hitmaker debuted new covers and completely new takes on his beloved old songs in the show, including Simple Twist of Fate, Desolation Row, and To Ramona, as well as Under the Red Sky.
While some of Dylan’s fan-favourites, Forgetful Heart, Love Sick, Early Roman Kings, brought back a glimpse of the past as he performed them similarly to the original version.
Willie and Nelson were joined by bluegrass artists, Sierra Hull and Billy Strings, who opened the show for them.
The Outlaw Fest lineup includes stars like Sheryl Crow, Wilco, Lucinda Williams, and Nathaniel Rateliff this year.
