Amy Lee of Evanescence: “50 Cent Hates My Guts”
Amy Lee, the singer of Evanescence, won’t be hanging out in a bar with 50 Cent very soon. In a recent interview, the goth-rock singer revealed that the rapper “hates [her] guts.”
The reason behind Fifty’s animosity against Lee is his 2004 Grammy loss to Evanescence for Best New Artist. There was an embarrassing moment during Evanescence’s winning speech when 50 Cent crossed the stage without being named the winner.
Lee said, “50 Cent hates my guts,” to a question about the event posed by Daily Beast. “It’s just one of those things…,” Lee continued. Really, though, we also believed he would prevail. What an exciting night that was. “What was it like to win a Grammy?” people ask, and my response is, “Stressful!” Having them is great now, but it seemed strange at first. “I don’t even think anybody in this room knows who we are,” is all I can recall thinking.
In contrast to Kanye West’s interruption of Taylor Swift during the 2009 MTV VMAs, Fifty swiftly left the stage without saying anything.
“Are there moments when you’re just stunned? Lee said, “It wasn’t that bad. He didn’t do anything. He didn’t grab the mic.” He appeared as though he were fleeting. He felt like he had won, just like in Zoolander. No, he didn’t say anything to me, but he enjoys talking about me and how he was taken advantage of. I don’t wish to get into a fight with him. .. I thought, “I’m going to stand here and see if this is real later, if I wake up or not,” while everything around me was in disarray.
Lee brought up the fact that 50 Cent is still bitter about missing out on that specific Grammy. A few years ago, the rapper bemoaned, “You got the largest debut hip-hop album [but] you don’t got no Best New Artis’ trophy,” during his speech at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Evanescence was shitted on by The Best New Artist. Is it possible to locate Evanescence? Since then, I haven’t seen Evanescence. They awarded them the prize ever since that evening.
