Junho, the 20-year-old Stoke player of the season, seems on the cusp of something special in 2024/25. To be fair, the last 18 months or so have already been pretty special on an individual level as he helped South Korea reach the under-20s World Cup semi-final, spectacularly navigated a cross-continent transfer and made his breakthrough at senior international level.
They are performances which have earned him reported interest from Feyenoord, who will be competing in the Champions League this season. The overwhelming consensus, if he carries on the trajectory everyone expects, is just who might come knocking next summer. His value is likely to sky rocket but he’ll be attracting the kinds of clubs who will be willing to pay – or he will have helped Stoke advance enough that he will be tempted to stay for a bit longer. Maybe we’re getting ahead of ourselves.
