Man City really wants sign the next Garrincha in the summer

The winger joined Troyes, who are owned by the CFG, back in the 2022 summer transfer window and is currently spending the season on loan at Girona.

Despite his contract at Troyes not set to expire until 2027, some behind-the-scene details have emerged regarding another possible move for the 19-year-old.

It said: “Girona winger Savio would be a fairly easy signing to make given he plays for City’s sister club and has spoken about his desire to make the move. “When I signed for the City Group, I had the ultimate role of joining Manchester City,” he said recently.

“And not least because City are looking into the possibility of making the move happen. The 19-year-old has played mainly on the left wing this season, but previously for PSV, he has played on both wings and in central attacking areas, too. He is regarded as more of a wide threat by City.”

This season has seen the Brazilian feature in 26 games for Girona across La Liga and the Copa Del Rey, scoring seven goals and delivering seven assists along the way.

Across his 22 La Liga appearances, the winger has made more passes into the penalty area (34), goal-creating actions (17) and progressive carries (105) than any other Girona player.

His overall league performances have earned Savio a strong season rating of 7.22/10 from WhoScored, making him the joint second-highest-rated player at the Spanish club.

In addition to that, Savio has been previously likened to the legendary Brazilian winger Garrincha by Argentinian pundit Diego Latorre, which further highlights how much of an exciting player the youngster is.

With all of that in mind, we feel that if Pep Guardiola feels like the winger is ready to be a useful figure in his City squad, this is a deal that the club should look to complete once the summer transfer window opens.
