Celtic star O’Riley to pass medical amid Aston Villa transfer links

Celtic midfielder and Aston Villa and West Ham target Matt O’Riley is unlikely to have any issues passing his medical this month, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has assessed his fitness record over the last two seasons and claims that the Englishman is in ideal shape for any club to sign him.

Sky Sports reported on 22 December that along with Villa and the Hammers, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and PSV Eindhoven have all been scouting the 23-year-old in his Champions League games.

They claim that it will take something beyond £25million, which is Celtic’s transfer record, in order to convince them to let go of him in January.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

“The best ability is availability so his playing track record is always very much appreciated and a testament to his habits and commitment off the pitch.

“He’s played nearly every game since last season and that’s certainly commendable.

“He will pass his medical if he does end up leaving in the January transfer window and there should be no problems with it.”

The 23-year-old has been in sensational form for Celtic this term as he’s found the back of the net on 10 occasions and provided seven assists in 21 league appearances.

He’s also bagged three more assists in six Champions League games so it’s not like he’s only performing against weaker teams.

It remains to be seen if Villa have the financial capability and the willingness to spend big for O’Riley in the January transfer window.

They find themselves in the rare position of not just finishing in the top four but also winning the league so the owners may loosen the purse strings a little.

In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports pundit has savaged a first-team player and called him “Foolish” after what he did recently.
