West Ham United are reportedly looking to replace David Moyes with one of two managers, should our current poor form continue.
David Moyes has worked wonders since taking over West Ham for the second time in December 2019, so could the Hammers board really replace him, or even consider it?
Hammers News were told just a few days ago that Moyes will be handed a new deal, but is that a given, regardless of results?
The 60-year-old Scot has received huge criticism from some sections of the Hammers fanbase this season, in spite of the fact we’re currently sitting inside the top seven in the Premier League table and have safely qualified through to the last 16 of the Europa League.
Some will say be careful what you wish for, whilst others will tell you that a new manager is needed at the London Stadium, if we are to consistently crack the top six and enjoy further success.
According to Sports Lens journalist Dean Jones, West Ham are prepared to offer Moyes a new deal that runs until the summer of 2026.
However, if the current bad run of form carries on, and supporter unrest continues, the Hammers board will not be offering the Scot any kind of deal.
The two managers, 50 and 42 respectively, are well-renowned for getting their teams to plays some scintillating football.
Fonseca and Carrick both deploy an easy-on-the-eye brand of possession based football – something that many West Ham fans are crying out for.
Moyes has overseen a special period during his time in charge of the Hammers, guiding us to three consecutive European campaigns and our first major trophy since 1980!
However, the general consensus is that the Scot has hit his ceiling, and can no longer take us forward as a club. In addition to that, the football that he implements is utterly dire and has no place in the modern game.
And if West Ham do decide to replace David Moyes, I would happily take either Fonseca or Carrick as the new manager.
However, positive change won’t happen overnight. There will undoubtedly be plenty of teething problems along the way.
The thing is, the fans need to be patient with whichever new manager eventually replaces Moyes. Building a successful team with your own style and vision can be a long and painful process at times.
Hopefully those shouting for Moyes to be sacked have the stomach for some difficult times before the light shines through in the end.
