ARISING: Why West Ham United must sell Michail Antonio ASAP

It’s been a year and three transfer windows that talk has dominated the back pages of Michail Antonio leaving West Ham, yet he remains a Hammer.

The Jamaica international has been a great servant to the east London club ever since joining from Nottingham Forest, even becoming the club’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League.

But his legacy is getting tainted at the London Stadium because he doesn’t know when to shut up and he keeps making a mockery of the club during public appearances.

Antonio hasn’t featured for the first-team since November 12th, and he has just two assists in his last 11 appearances for the club in all competitions. At age 33, he turns 34 in March, he’s not getting any better either.

Yet for some reason the striker has found a voice in his podcast with Newcastle striker Callum Wilson and recently as a pundit with Sky Sports, where he keeps embarrassing himself with comments.

He told the world that Gianluca Scamacca wasn’t the right type of striker for a David Moyes team last season, leaving the Hammers in a difficult position when it came to selling him as interested clubs knew the situation.

He also recently told the world that Jarrod Bowen doesn’t enjoy playing as a central striker, before telling Monday Night Football viewers that West Ham fans haven’t seen him at his best as he’s never reached the levels of his playing days at Forest since coming to London.

It seems every time Antonio’s name comes up in the headlines it’s bad news, and at this point it isn’t worth the hassle. The attack has moved on and there are better options.

It wasn’t long ago that his contract was renewed, but the summer transfer window would be the perfect time to cash in and work towards a replacement.

Fans are growing sick and tired of him and his comments, and the fact he can’t win them back around on the pitch because of nagging injury issues and poor performances prove that it’s the perfect time to move him on.
