Player on standby to jet into UK with last-minute West Ham United signing

FC Nordsjælland attacker Ibrahim Osman is now expected to stay at the club beyond the transfer deadline but is anticipating a last-gasp change, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist shared on his personal X account (1 February) that the talented forward is expected to remain at the club after the Danish club rejected offers close to €20million (£17m) from West Ham and Brighton.

However, Osman is understood to be ready to travel to the UK today before the deadline should anything change but is happy to remain in Denmark for the remainder of the campaign.

Jacobs posted: “Ibrahim Osman looks set to stay at Nordsjælland. Danish club have rejected two offers close to €20m from West Ham and Brighton to date.

“Player is understood to be ready to travel today if any surprises but also happy (and planning) to stay at Nordsjælland and then move in the summer.

“West Ham and Brighton could rekindle their interest, whilst Spurs, Wolfsburg, Gladbach, Bologna and Monaco are all interested next window.”

With Osman’s Ghanaian links, Hammers fans will have been hoping that the connection with Kudus can help bring yet another talent to London Stadium before the transfer window closes.

The youngster has brightened up the Norwegian first division since making his debut for Nordsjaelland in February 2023 going on to score four goals and register five assists in 39 appearances.

Although he has not managed to make his international debut as of yet, with several bigger talents pushing him down the pecking order, Osman is a serious prospect but his £17m is too expensive for the Hammers to do this month.

Certainly, the Irons need a new winger in before the deadline but that kind of price for a player who isn’t guaranteed to make an immediate impact is too big a risk, especially on their finances and the FFP pressures PL clubs are under.

However, that shouldn’t stop West Ham trying to secure his signature for the summer though and the opportunity is there to convince the player that East London is the place to continue his development beyond this season.

Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten would be very smart to still continue their pursuit of the talented winger if he’s unlikely to move this month. His talent and potential is too big to put on the back-burners.
