NFL NEWS: Giants AGM Brandon Brown Passed Over for Chargers GM Job; Will Return to Giants

New York Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown’s aspirations to become an NFL general manager will have to wait for another hiring cycle.

Brown, who received interest for the general manager vacancies with the Carolina Panthers and, more recently, the Los Angeles Chargers, did not get either job, meaning he’ll return as Giants general manager Joe Schoen’s righthand man for the 2024 season.

Brown had been a finalist for the Chargers job, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, but the Chargers decided to hire Baltimore Ravens Director of Player Personnel Joe Horwitz, who had been interviewed for the Giants vacancy that went to Schoen for the job.

The Panthers job, for which Brown was also a finalist, went to Dan Morgan, a former player for the team. Morgan received the title of “president of football operations and general manager.”

Brown, who has ten years of NFL experience that, in addition to the Giants, also includes the Eagles and Colts, last met with the Chargers in person on January 25, two weeks after his initial interview, which had been conducted by video conference.

The 35-year-old Brown, who was invited to participate in the NFL’s Front Office & General Manager Accelerator Program held at last month’s league meetings, has since joined the Giants party at the Shrine Bowl practices in Frisco, Texas.
