INTERESTING: Giants showing interest in rising star in NFL coaching world

The NFL is a constant churn. Coaches and players move when given the opportunity. Bills linebackers coach Bobby Babich is a popular name to get a promotion, and that may come away from Buffalo. He may not have to go far, though.

The New York Giants requested an interview with Babich for their open defensive coordinator spot.

Of course, Daboll came to NY from the Bills. He coached alongside Babich there, so they have a strong connection.

Daboll and co. are trying to replace Wink Martindale, who quit on the team earlier in the offseason after the Giants fired multiple members of the defensive staff.

Babich’s work this past season for Buffalo cannot be overlooked. The linebacker core for the Bills battled major injuries, and their depth consistently stepped up. Tyrel Dodson and Terrel Bernard became legitimate contributors, and veteran A.J. Klein became a postseason x-factor for their defense.

The linebackers made huge plays, and Babich deserves credit there, undoubtedly. The Giants have a multiple young, intriguing LBs on their roster and a top veteran in Bobby Okereke.

Babich has been a steady, quick riser in Buffalo since he joined the Bills in 2017 as an assistant defensive backs coach. He moved to coaching safeties in 2018 before being promoted to linebackers coach in 2022. He has tons of experience around an NFL defense.

Reuniting Babich with Daboll may be one of the best options for the Giants to lead their defensive unit.
