David Moyes’s West Ham United are determined to beat Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea to the signature of Victor Boniface.
That is according to The Sun, which has reported how vested technical director Tim Steidten is in a potential deal for Boniface.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that West Ham Technical Director Tim Steidten is personally “pushing for the massive swoop and could pull it off before the window shuts”.
Steidten is trying to convince his former club Bayer to sell West Ham Boniface in the middle of the season.
The Sun has noted that Newcastle United and Chelsea are keen on the 23-year-old striker as well, but West Ham are ready to break their transfer record for the Nigeria international striker. Arsenal have been linked as well.
Bayer Managing Director of Sport, Simon Rolfes, has previously described the striker as “a very commanding and difficult to handle centre forward who will be a challenge for every defender with his physicality”, adding that he is “also quick and has good technique”. Rolfes said that Boniface is “a strong and versatile striker with potential”.
In my view, Victor Boniface would be a good signing for West Ham United. I believe that the Hammers should do their utmost to get a deal done with Bayer Leverkusen for the striker.
Boniface has done well for Bayer since joining the German club in the summer of 2023. The Nigeria international striker has made 15 starts and one substitute appearance in the Bundesliga this season. He has scored 10 goals and given seven assists in those games.
The Nigerian striker has also scored four goals and given one assist in four starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League this season. Boniface is only 23, and he can still improve and develop in the coming years.
