Victor Torp says it was a ‘no brainer’ to sign for Coventry City and can’t wait to meet the fans at what he’s described as an ‘amazing’ club. The 24-year-old Danish midfielder has signed for the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee – understood to be £2.1million – from Norwegian top flight side Sarpsborg, agreeing a four-and-a-half-year deal.
A central and dynamic midfielder who can do both jobs, attacking and defending, he said: “It feels fantastic to be here and I’m just happy to be here and looking forward to doing well for this amazing club.”
Asked about his qualities and the type of player he is, he told the club’s media team: “I play central midfield and I want to have the ball and make good relations with my teammates, play good football and contribute with some goals and assist.”
As for what attracted him to City, he said: “First of all it was the love from the people here. I felt like there are some really good people here and I had some good conversations with the coach and other people from the club and I got a good impression, and the way they want to play football also suits me well. That’s the main reason I am here now.
“The manager explained a lot about how we want to play as a team and the principle of the style of play. He gave me a good first impression and I could see myself in the way he wants to play.
“It was pretty easy decision when the opportunity was there and after the talks I had with the club so, for me, it was a no brainer to come here. The facilities are great and I’m looking forward to getting out and training with my new teammates. The pitch looks amazing so I just want to tie my boots and play some football now.”
