It is quite difficult to pinpoint a single weakness in this season’s Baltimore Ravens squad. The Ravens finished regular season play ranking in the top five in both points per game and points per game allowed. From their star-studded talents to their well-rounded depth across the board, it came as no surprise to see the Ravens clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC last month.
According to one evaluator from a rival team, the Ravens do have a “fatal flaw” within their squad.
“It’s tough to find one, but one evaluator from a rival team told me age on the offensive line, with tackles Ronnie Stanley and Morgan Moses, and guard Kevin Zeitler, could be a factor,” NFL insider Albert Breer wrote in a playoff preview column on SI.com.
The ages of Ronnie Stanley, Morgan Moses, and Kevin Zeitler did not pose much of a problem for the Ravens during the regular season. Baltimore did seek to take a bit of the load off the shoulders of both Stanley and Moses in order to get them ready for the playoffs. During a few games in the second half of the season, the Ravens often rotated Patrick Mekari and Daniel Faalele in for Stanley and Moses, respectively.
Zeitler, on the other hand, showed that he still has plenty left in the tank at this stage in his career. The veteran right guard allowed a mere two sacks over 983 total snaps played on offense.
The Ravens currently have their sights set on hosting a playoff game in the AFC Divisional Round.
