FC Barcelona are reportedly open to selling Andreas Christensen, with Newcastle United interested in signing the Danish international.
The former Chelsea defender has been a regular for Xavi Hernandez’s side ever since making the move to Catalonia in 2022, with Christensen winning the La Liga title last season with Barcelona.
However, the reigning Spanish champions are looking to bring in new signing Chadi Riad into the senior team for next season, which means a current defender will have to be sold.
And according to Sport, Christensen is the player the Barcelona board will look to move on, with the 27-year-old centre-back already attracting interest from Newcastle.
As per the report, the Magpies have had a long-standing interest in Christensen, with Manchester United also keen on signing the Danish international this year.
Lauded by Thomas Tuchel as a ‘super talented’ defender, a return to the Premier League could be on the cards for Christensen, and Newcastle could be a perfect club for the former Chelsea man.

It’s pretty clear for all to see that Newcastle could do with a top defensive signing this year, with the Magpies in need of some added quality in the centre-back position.
And Christensen could be an ideal signing for Eddie Howe’s side, especially if Barcelona are now open to the idea of selling the former Chelsea star at some point this year.
Whilst a transfer this January might be a hard for Newcastle due to FFP restrictions, the summer could be an ideal window to bring Christensen back to the Premier League.
And if the Toon can qualify again for Europe, signing Christensen could be an easy enough task for Newcastle, who might be an appealing club for the Barcelona centre-back.
