Leeds United have now made approach to sign 21-year-old PL

Loans look set to make up the bulk of Leeds United’s January transfer strategy.

Angus Kinnear confirmed as such in a meeting with the Leeds United Supporter Trust back in September, suggesting that Leeds left two loan spots open from the summer intentionally.

And following the shock termination of Djed Spence’s loan move from Tottenham Hotspur, there is now another, with both full-back positions, and a creative midfielder priorities for Leeds.

Having been linked to Bournemouth’s David Brooks, Fabrizio Romano has now hinted that Leeds have asked Liverpool about the possibility of taking Fabio Carvalho on loan.

Romano has reported on Twitter that the top six Championship clubs, as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers, have all enquired about the 21-year-old following the end of his loan at RB Leipzig.

Carvalho would be perfect for Leeds

Leeds do not really have a natural number 10 across the entire squad and that has shown in particular during away matches against sides who have sat back and defended.

Georginio Rutter was hugely impressive there in the recent victory over Birmingham City, but whether Daniel Farke uses him there regularly remains to be seen.

With that in mind, Leeds should do all they can to bring him in as he would be the perfect number 10 for this squad, and potentially provide the missing piece in the final third.

Romano says the key for any side to get a deal done for Carvalho is the guarantee of game time, and while Leeds’ front four has shone this season, he would improve it considerably.

Carvalho got 10 goals and eight assists in 36 appearances during Fulham’s Championship title winning campaign in 2021/22, with the vast majority of those coming as a number 10. There won’t be anyone better available.
