Forgotten Celtic man Keen on January Departure

Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist, who signed on a free transfer from Dundee United a year and a half ago, could be set to depart the club this month. The news comes amidst the 31-year-old’s switching of his agent.

According to the Daily Mail, Siegrist wants regular first-team football. To get it, he is ready to leave Celtic this month.

For Brendan Rodgers and co, the services of the Swiss stopper wouldn’t be much of a miss. Indeed, Siegrist has yet to play a competitive game under the Irishman and is well behind Joe Hart in the pecking order between the sticks.

Getting rid of players such as Siegrist, who are simply not being used, is pivotal to the working of the football club. It allows for an added berth in the squad to be opened, whilst also freeing up the wage bill.

The former Dundee United man would depart Glasgow having made just three appearances for the Bhoys. He never seemed to notably push Hart for a place in the team and on the whole, his transfer to the champions never worked out.
