Celtic summer signing Marco Tilio looks set for a loan move back to Melbourne City after failing to make an impact since arriving in the summer.
The 22-year-old joined in the summer in a deal worth £2m but has been limited to just two appearances.
According to Sun Sport, Tilio is wanted for a return to the A-League side as he looks to keep himself in good shape with a view to proving his worth to the club.
The young attacker came to the club with an injury which put him behind the rest of the squad, meaning that when he did join up with the rest of the squad, he was lacking sharpness. Brendan Rodgers said that the player had struggled to cope with the step-up since arriving.
Tilio was named in Graham Arnold’s Socceroos squad for the Asia Cup and he will be keen to get his future sorted as soon as possible. In 83 appearances, Tilio scored 20 goals and assisted on 19 occasions. The player will be hoping to capture his best form in a loan spell elsewhere.
Tilio found himself out of the manager’s thoughts during a period that wide options were thin on the ground. Now, with Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda returning as well as Brendan looking to strengthen in the transfer window, Tilio would do well to show himself in a good light by going out and succeeding on loan.
