EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — New York Giants rookie cornerback Deonte Banks, listed as questionable with a shoulder injury suffered on Christmas Day against the Eagles, is inactive for the team’s Week 17 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Banks was a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday after being projected as not being able to practice on Wednesday when the team held a walkthrough. The rookie has been solid in both run support, where he leads Giants defensive backs with 17 stops, and in coverage, where he has an 84.7 coverage rating that includes two interceptions in his production.
With Banks sidelined, either Cor’Dale Flott or Nick McCloud will get the start.
Also inactive for the Giants are defensive back Gervarrius Owens, outside linebacker Benton Whitley, receiver Parris Campbell, offensive lineman Sean Harlow, receiver Dennis Houston (one of the two practice squad elevations this week ), and defensive tackle Timmy Horne.
The Rams inactive players are cornerback Tre’Vius Tomlinson, running back Zach Evans, outside linebacker Ochaun Mathis, tackle Alaric Jackson, and defensive end Earnest Brown.
