Leeds transfer news as PSG in want January move

Paris Saint-Germain tried to bring Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk to the Parc des Princes ahead of the January transfer window, according to Voetbal International.

The Dutch news outlet reported on 28 December that PSG had looked at the Whites’ skipper after his impressive year so far at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke has selected Struijk in 23 of Leeds’ 24 league games so far this season, underlining his importance to the team and the reason the club will likely demand a high fee should anybody want to prise him away.

Leeds must do all they can to keep him

Given the defender’s importance to the team and to the way Farke wants to play, Leeds have to do everything in their power to ensure he remains at Elland Road, at least until the end of the season when their push for promotion will have been decided.

For now, he remains a crucial part of that promotion push, and one Farke will not want to be without. His calmness in possession and strength in defence provide the perfect combination for an ideal defender at this level.

However, with the financial capability of PSG, it may prove tempting for those behind the scenes at Elland Road to entertain any proposal. Given the financial burden that comes with relegation, Leeds could benefit greatly from the possible income from his sale.

Struijk may also be tempted. The money PSG can afford to offer him for his wage will likely dwarf that of the Championship club, and if that is the case then he may force a move away from Yorkshire with the bright lights and big money of Paris on offer.
