On the same day that the Los Angeles Lakers were taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers, the city of Akron was getting ready to open its newest museum.
It was a dedication to the life of former Cavaliers and current Lakers star LeBron James in his hometown. It has been in the works for a little bit now, but they wanted it to finally open with James just around the corner.
It’s a special moment for James and the entire city that he grew up in. “Earlier in the day, a museum dedicated to his life, “LeBron James’ Home Court,” opened at his family foundation’s House Three Thirty in Akron. Admission is $23, matching his uniform number.”
Per Brian Dulik of NBA.com Lakers head coach Darvin Ham spoke about James after the game and praised him for everything that he has accomplished, both on and off the court.
“He’s a great young man who has done tremendous things on the basketball floor, in the world of business and in education,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. Per Brian Dulik of NBA.com James has been in the NBA for 21 years, but he has seen success everywhere he has gone.
He has excelled in his basketball career but also has built himself an empire outside of it as well. It all started in the city of Akron, and he is thankful for it all. “Stepping back on this floor and knowing I was part of pretty much all the banners in this arena, that’s pretty cool,” said James, who starred on all six of the Cavaliers’ Eastern Conference title teams.
“It’s very special to be a kid from Akron and to have been drafted here and played 11 years in Cleveland.” Per Brian Dulik of NBA.com He knows how special it is to come back to Cleveland, and everything he has done for the city comes back up. James is loved within the state of Ohio, and it’s something that he never takes for granted.
