Tottenham are currently just £10m away from signing key January transfer target

There seems no doubt that Tottenham Hotspur are about to embark on their busiest January transfer window in recent memory.

Ange Postecoglou is desperate for his squad to be strengthened and further built in his ambitious image.

And given the summer transfer window was one heavily distracted by Harry Kane’s future, January will now be crucial.

That being said, Tottenham are said to desire the arrival of a central defender, a midfielder and a forward.

And whilst it doesn’t seem as if any deals have been made just yet, Spurs could be getting closer to one arrival.

Often linked with Tottenham in the summer, Conor Gallagher is said to be available in the January transfer window once again.

And according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who shared his update on X, Spurs are now close to reaching Chelsea’s valuation.

Jacobs said: “Chelsea will consider offers of £45-50m for Conor Gallagher.

“It’s clear Mauricio Pochettino values him, and Gallagher is content to fight for his place, meaning Chelsea won’t be looking for any cut-price sale.

“It’s understood Spurs, late last window, wanted to spend around £35m.”

Tottenham are £10m away from Chelsea’s Connor Gallagher in January transfer window

Of course, Tottenham fans may take confidence from this update.

Although there’s a slight gap in the two valuations, Spurs could surely reach a deal if they are set on Gallagher.

It seems peculiar that Chelsea would be willing to sanction any departure for a home-grown player who has often worn the captain’s armband.

However, that is said to be the case and Tottenham are now considered to be more advanced in their interest than one rival.

Of course, a deal for Gallagher would only solve one profile on the January wishlist, perhaps explaining the need to keep any fee down.

That being said, there could be serious value in re-signing one player who left Tottenham for £12m back in 2020.

Kyle Walker-Peters has been in fine form for Southampton this season and could be a smart addition.

There’s clearly a ton for Tottenham to ponder in the January transfer window, and this latest Gallagher update could prove encouraging.
