The Hoops are poised to be busy in the winter market and a striker is one position they will hunt.
They are set for a striker headache and there are a few options for Brendan Rodgers to consider for his Celtic frontline this January.
Kyogo and Oh are bound for the Asian Cup which will leave the boss without a senior forward in the New Year, and depending on how long Japan and South Korea are in the tournament, it could be longer. Brondby’s Mathias Kvistgaarden was touted as an option in the summer but the rumours fizzled out.
They have sparked back into life in time for the winter though, but Brondby sporting director Carsten V. Jensen says their goal is to keep all of their current crop together. He told club media: “In continuation of the evaluation of the squad and the performances in the autumn, we believe that there is further improvement potential to be gained through the winter preparations. Therefore, our stated goal in the upcoming transfer window is to a large extent to keep the playing squad together.
“As we have said in other contexts in relation to possible players this winter, we will therefore only be active if there is a significant reinforcement. In addition, we must of course look at whether adjustments need to be made in relation to playing time and possibly rent.”
Sydney van Hooijdonk’s future at Bologna appears far more bleak, however. Son of Hoops hero Pierre, he is another Rodgers is reportedly after and Corriere Dello Sport claim “the orientation is to sell” the Dutchman struggling for regular minutes. His exit will be facilitated so the arrival of Argentine hitman Santiago Castro can take place.
Bojan Miovski is the third Celtic eyes are claimed to be casting a glance over. The Aberdeen forward has been turning heads with his Pittodrie performances but Dons hero Joe Harper warns a deal won’t be easy as any sale will infuriate the Red Army. He wrote in Press&Journal: “I would not be surprised if clubs make a move to sign Miovski in the January transfer window. He is such an important player Aberdeen will have to set a very high value to any club that is interested in signing him.
“This is the second successive season since signing for Aberdeen in summer 2022 that Miovski has been a prolific scorer. The North Macedonian international also proved this term that his scoring prowess is not only restricted to Scotland.
“He also scored four goals in Europe. If Aberdeen let Miovski leave on the cheap the club’s supporters will be upset. Hopefully Miovski is still at Pittodrie after the winter window because his goals will be key to the Scottish Cup campaign and the bid to finish
There have also been reports that Matt O’Riley is attracting scouts from West Ham. But Record Sport revealed on Christmas Day that the midfielder is happy in Glasgow and interested parties like Inter Milan are set to be left wanting.
