Steve Kerr, the coach of the Golden State Warriors, has accepted that big man Dario Saric will leave the team in the summer.Regarding free agency, Saric “knew this was a year where he slipped through the cracks and needed to be in a good spot to show what he can do,” according to Kerr. “This is the place, without a doubt. What a great player he is. It’s obvious that he’s a player who will demand a high salary the following summer.
This season, Saric is doing better for the Warriors than his veteran minimum contract allows.
This season, on 43/45/83 shooting, the big man from Croatia is averaging 10.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
More impressively, the 6-foot-10 Saric filled in for the suspended Draymond Green during his last six games, putting up big numbers. Over that period, he shot 48.4% overall and 42.4% from downtown, averaging 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.”We anticipated playing him frequently, simply due to his exceptional fit,” Kerr stated. “A few years ago, we saw him play with Chris Paul in Phoenix, and he’s a completely different player from Draymond to [Kevon Looney].” He was such a perfect fit for our roster. We made a strong pitch to him. “How much am I going to play, or am I going to play?” he asked.
As a useful player off the bench for the Warriors, Saric achieved his goal.
Nevertheless, the Warriors won’t be able to use the mid-level exception because they are expected to be a luxury team in 2019. Saric is probably going to go the same way as Donte DiVincenzo did the previous summer.
DiVincenzo signed a midlevel exception contract with the New York Knicks.
Draymond Green Is Coming Back
It will be interesting to observe how Saric’s minutes are affected by Draymond Green’s return. When Green goes back into the lineup against Sacramento on Tuesday, Kerr intends to give him a lot of playing time.
During Friday’s 118-112 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, Green gave Rudy Gobert a choke hold, earning him the last game of his five-game suspension.
“He and Rick [Celebrini] have been putting in a lot of work.” I’m not positive about it, but I think he scrimmaged [Friday]—I traveled to Phoenix with us,” Kerr said, citing Anthony Slater of The Athletic. However, he has been working really hard, so maybe on Tuesday he will be well and able to play a big role.
Stephen M. Curry Looking forward to Draymond Green’s return
Green’s suspension resulted from his ejection, and Stephen Curry, who was present, is looking forward to his return.
Following Friday’s victory, Stephen Curry told reporters, “I know Draymond’s excited to be back.” We can’t wait to have him. He is necessary to us.
However, he quickly reduced hopes.
“Having Raymond back helps a lot, not just because of his defensive skills but also because of his communication style, but it won’t fix everything,” Curry remarked. We must thus address those who are traveling to Sacramento in particular. We are aware of the severity of their offense.
The Kings’ numbers are with the Warriors. On October 27, in their first meeting of the season, they defeated them 122-114. When they played again on November 1, Klay Thompson’s game-winning kick helped them win just narrowly. Top player for the Kings, De’Aaron Fox, was injured and missed that match.
