Reflecting on his experience at the 2024 Giro d’Italia, the 23-year-old German rider said, “I’d definitely like to try that at some point,” when asked about focusing on the overall standings in a Grand Tour. However, he quickly acknowledged the difficulty of balancing GC ambitions with the demands of a three-week race, emphasizing that he doesn’t yet have the experience to make that jump. For now, Steinhauser is enjoying the freedom of targeting stage wins, particularly in the mountains, and he sees this as an important step in his development. His goal is to continue gaining experience and refine his abilities before committing to a full-on GC challenge in the future. He added, “Later on, I can always concentrate on the overall classification when I’m in the right shape and I can confirm that I can ride so well in a Grand Tour.”
