ROCK LEGENDS PAY TRIBUTE TO THE ROLLING STONES’ GUITARIST WITH A FRESH TAKE ON THE 1967 CLASSIC
Los Angeles, CA – To celebrate Keith Richards’ 81st birthday, Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles and Elvis Costello have joined forces to record a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Connection.” The song, which was primarily written by Richards, was originally released in 1967.
_A DREAM COLLABORATION_
Hoffs and Costello’s rendition of “Connection” stays true to the original song’s energetic vibe while adding their own unique touch. Hoffs, who got to do the “Keith part” on the cover, says it was a dream come true to record a song with Costello. “I had the great honor of singing with Elvis at a couple of his shows, and it was a dream to record a song together,” she says.
_COSTELLO ON WORKING WITH HOFFS_
Costello also shared his enthusiasm for working with Hoffs, saying, “What a gas to sing with Sue again. I’d be the ‘Keith’ to her ‘Mick’ any day.”
_A TRIBUTE TO KEITH RICHARDS_
Hoffs expressed her admiration for Richards, saying, “His smile, his swagger, his songwriting — the way he moves on stage, as if his guitar is a part of his body and together they meld with the music and the emotion of the song.”
