Celtic plotting triple January signing blitz

Celtic are planning to sign up to three first-team stars in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The winter window is regarded behind the scenes at Parkhead as far more fruitful for the top Scottish clubs than it is south of the border.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Celtic are convinced there is great value in January and confirmed they are gearing up for another major recruitment drive.

As revealed by Football Insider on Saturday (25 November), Celtic are stepping up plans to sign a new goalkeeper – which is the priority target for the Hoops.

Joe Hart has remained the undisputed number-one shot-stopper but is out of contract at the end of the season and the Glasgow giants are now ready to look elsewhere.

But the Parkhead club also looking for reinforcements in key outfield roles as they look to retain the Scottish Premiership title.

Celtic have historically been active in the January window, signing the likes of Hyeon-gyu Oh, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate mid-season in previous years.

The Hoops made 10 signings in the most recent summer window but are keen to add to their squad even further.

Brendan Rodgers’ side sit top of the Scottish Premiership after playing 14 games in the 2023-24 campaign.

However, they are on the brink of being eliminated from the Champions League and will need a strong showing in their last two group games to secure Europa League football in the new year.

Celtic will not secure another domestic treble this season after being eliminated from the Scottish League Cup earlier this season.
