Rangers Women: Jo Potter frustrated by ‘sloppy’ performance v Hamilton despite 4-0 win

Rangers Women’s boss Jo Potter was left frustrated by a “sloppy” performance from her side, despite the Light Blues registering a 4-0 win over Hamilton.

The Gers registered their 14th consecutive victory over the bottom-placed side in the Scottish Women’s Premier League on Sunday (17 December) thanks to goals from Chelsea Cornet, Lizzie Arnot and a brace from Mia McAulay.

With Sunday’s win, Rangers have confirmed their place at the top of the table for the festive period and have extended the gap to Celtic to three points as they could only draw with Hearts, but Potter was still frustrated by some aspects of the performance.

Speaking to Rangers TV (17 December) she said: “We’ve performed better, I think it was a sluggish start, we were a little bit sloppy. As you can see going into the break at 1-0 anything can happen, we didn’t create as many chances as we normally do.

“Conditions didn’t help but we managed to stick with it. The main thing for us today was coming away with three points and a clean sheet to keep us on top of that table.

“I think the girls deserve a good little break and it’s come at a good time for us. They’re going to go away, reset recharge and hopefully come back even more hungry.”

As Potter suggested the most important thing for Rangers on Sunday was picking up all three points to secure their place at the top of the Premier League for the festive period. The fact that Celtic also dropped points would have come as a welcome surprise.

Rangers have become a winning machine under the English manager’s guidance and constantly seem to find ways to blow teams away, even when not at their best as was the case Sunday and that is a good habit for teams to get into.

Like every team, there is always room for improvement, but Rangers can be more than content with how they have started the season as the Light Blues appear to be the team to beat this term.

Hopefully, after a well-earned winter break, the Gers can come back and extend their incredible winning run with some even better performances to boost their chances of lifting some silverware this season.
