Leeds United make contact with attacking midfielder

Leeds United are said to have already been in contact with the agent of Galatasaray attacking midfielder Kerem Aktürkoğlu ahead of January.

Leeds are going into the January window without too many priorities to consider in terms of incomings, but still with some vital business to attend to.

Daniel Farke’s side have struggled through their last two games ahead of a vital meeting with Ipswich Town this weekend, where the German will know that he has to keep his side within reach of the Tractor Boys.

Turkish outlet Fanatik are reporting that Leeds are one of multiple clubs across Europe that have made “frequent contact” with the agent of Galatasaray attacking midfielder Kerem Aktürkoğlu.

They claim that Leeds are joined by Serie A side Lazio in their attempts to sign the 25-year-old attacking midfielder.

A stumbling block for Leeds and the Italian club is that the Turkish side won’t be willing to let players go that aren’t on their transfer list.

There is no indication as of yet whether these two players would be allowed to leave in the new year.

Kerem Aktürkoğlu profile: Attacking midfielder’s stats this season

The 25-year-old has been in strong form this season for the Turkish side, both through his goalscoring and creative qualities too.

A left-footer, Aktürkoğlu has been playing both through the middle and on the left this season for his club, where he has put up solid numbers in the league and in Europe, where he scored in both meetings against Manchester United.

How many signings will Leeds make in January?

A left-footed attacking midfielder that can play through the middle is exactly what we need, but there is virtually no chance this happens.

What happened to two Leeds fans when we played Galatasaray is something that will never be forgotten, and as such, there’s surely no way that the club enter into transfer business with them.

It wouldn’t be right, and you would imagine that the club are well aware of the history here that makes this a no-go.
