Warriors Notes: Saric, Green, Kuminga, Moody, Jackson-Davis

The Warriors defeated San Antonio on Friday night to maintain their hopes of moving on in the in-season tournament, but Anthony Slater of The Athletic speculates that Dario Saric’s outstanding performance may not have been possible without it. Saric scored 20 points in 26 minutes after coming off the bench, including four three-pointers, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. He has scored 20 points in each of Golden State’s three tournament games.

For a squad that needed size but had limited funds to spend, Saric has been an incredible acquisition in free agency. He agreed to a one-year contract with a minimum salary, meaning he will be available for hire again in 2024.

Coach Steve Kerr stated, “We made a hard (free agency) pitch to him.” “How much am I going to play?” he inquired. Will I participate? He was aware that this was the year he fell between the gaps in terms of free agency, so he needed to be in a position to demonstrate his abilities. Without a doubt, this is the place. What a great player he is. It’s obvious that he is a player who will want a high pay for the upcoming summer.

More information about the Warriors:

Kerr will have to make some tough choices after Draymond Green returns from his five-game ban, Slater notes in the same article. Jonathan Kuminga may see reduced playing time as a result of Saric’s excellent play and Kevon Looney’s consistency in the frontcourt. Kuminga didn’t do very well while Green wasn’t playing, but Slater points out that he was crucial to Friday’s victory since he scored 12 points in the fourth quarter.

Moses Moody took Chris Paul’s spot in Kerr’s starting lineup on Friday, according to Slater. Despite coming off the bench, Paul played 29 minutes, while Moody only played 17. Kerr said, “I just wanted to change some of the combinations.” “Our goal was to bring some guys together, and some guys apart.”

Jackson Trayce:According to Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle, Davis is a big supporter of the NIL system, which allowed him to earn more than $1 million in sponsorships while in college and stay at Indiana long enough to hone his NBA-ready skills. Having a rare rookie with four years of NCAA experience makes Kerr thrilled. “You don’t have to teach him a lot of things you’d normally expect to have to teach a rookie because he has played in 126 college games,” Kerr said. He’s another player whose skill level I’d like to see increase. Simply put, I can’t seem to locate the minutes.
