How Douglas Luiz justifies his price tag with performances

This has come amid reported interest from title challengers Arsenal and Liverpool [Evening Standard, 6 December], with Luiz helping high-flying Villa to third in the league.

The Brazilian missed the 2-1 win over Brentford due to suspension after an accumulation of yellow cards but has been one of the most consistent performances for Unai Emery’s side so far

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT [17 December], Jacobs reported: “The valuation of Douglas Luiz is effectively a British record transfer, give or take, it would be £100m plus, and even then, they might still turn it down and revisit the situation in the summer.”

His last three appearances came in a Europa Conference League draw with Zrinjski, and Premier League victories against both Arsenal and Manchester City, continuing to make his mark on the division and prove why he is so highly sought-after.

A 100 per cent long-ball accuracy, finding the target with all six of his six attempts, combined with a 100 per cent aerial duel success rate, 117 touches of the ball and five crosses showed how effective his influence can be in the Conference League clash
