Sources: Leeds could now accept Gnonto offer

Leeds United could be willing to let Wilfried Gnonto move on in the upcoming January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (15 December) that clubs in the Premier League and Italy’s Serie A are monitoring the fringe Whites star ahead of the new year.

Gnonto is struggling to break into the plans of Leeds boss Daniel Farke as the Yorkshire giants chase down Leicester and Ipswich at the top of the Championship.

That is despite his impressive displays as he managed four goals and four assists across 28 appearances in all competitions last term – a season which ended in Leeds’ relegation.

He could be sold by the Whites in January with any potential sale set to be used to boost their transfer kitty for the winter window.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the forward is “desperate” to play regular first-team football again.

Gnonto pushed for a move away in the aftermath of the 2022-23 campaign and was excluded from first-team activities as a result.

The Italy international was eventually restored to the side and many fans hoped he could be the difference-maker in the race for promotion.

But Farke has been happy to keep the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Dan James and Joel Piroe together as an attacking unit.

Gnonto has managed just one goal and one assist this term.

His contract at Elland Road is set to run until June 2027 following his arrival at the club last year (2022).
