Steve Cooper: “Spurs are full of threats”

Steve Cooper spoke of the threats of both the team and a player he knows well – Brennan Johnson – as we face his Forest side at the City Ground this evening (8pm UK).

Cooper led Forest from the bottom of the Championship to promotion in 2022 and then kept his side in the top flight with a 16th-place finish last season. However, Forest are in somewhat of a sticky spell with one win in their last 12 in the Premier League ahead of this Friday Night Football clash.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Cooper said: “We know Spurs are a really good team, full of threats all over the pitch and the way they play is something you have to be mindful of. This is the Premier League – every team is like that in different ways. We are at home, it is Friday night and it has the makings of a brilliant atmosphere and one we really want to be involved in.”

Asked about Brennan, who joined us in August after 14 years at Forest, graduating from their Academy to play in the Premier League, Cooper added: “We know Brennan’s obvious threats and we have to deal with him being on the pitch in a different way. Of course, it will be nice to see him after the game, but he is an opponent for the game and we have to focus on not just him but all the other threats they have and do our best to deal with it and impose what we think we can do as well.”
