Rooney bags first away win over Carddiff city

John Ruddy (7) – A brilliant save from Goutas in the first half. Some good commanding in the box and was barely troubled otherwise.

Dion Sanderson (8) – A leading performance from the back. Won the ball for the goal and was always on the front foot in a defensive sense.

Marc Roberts (8) – An important presence in the air especially in response to Cardiff’s set pieces. Some good passing out from the back as well.

Emanuel Aiwu (8) – Top performance after some struggling displays. Most notably a great recovery challenge in the first half and his decision making was much better on the ball.

Lee Buchanan (7) – Meite was a handful at times but the left back upped his game and didn’t allow the winger to dictate that side of the pitch.

Jordan James (8) – Given the licence to attack and find space and did that successfully. Linked up with the rest of the attack really well.

Krystian Bielik (7) – Off the ball he was superb and regained possession very well. Passing was hot and cold.

Ivan Sunjic (7) – His pressing was excellent and important to the tactical set up on the night.

Siriki Dembele (8) – Played on the right wing and got it spot on when tracking back. A nice assist and was always a threat.

Juninho Bacuna (7) – Took his goal really well after a swift counter attack. Made some good passes in the final third but not everything came off.

Jay Stansfield (7) – Never stopped running and was important in the pressing.
