INTERVIEW: Robins on Haji Wright’s form in recent weeks

Mark Robins is looking forward to another difficult challenge this weekend, as his side head into the game full of confidence.

“Yeah, after they’ve added an extra day’s rest and then we go to their place and travelling today.

“You’re facing two recently relegated teams and in quick succession and it’s never easy anyway, but obviously that’s the task and it’s made it a little bit more difficult, but we are 100% looking forward to it.

“Elland Road is a brilliant place to play, the support and the atmosphere that’s generated and combine that with our support, all of those things make for a really good game.

“We’re in decent spirits, we’ve had a good run of form, picked up some decent points up and over the last five games we’d be third in the division so that means that we’ve got a bit of momentum building and a bit of confidence building but we’re under no illusions how tough this will be.

“Daniel (Farke) is a top, top coach. He’s been promoted a few times with Norwich City, and he will be hoping to do the same again with Leeds and that will be the demand that’s on them and rightly, so their squad of players is fantastic.”

Coming up against Leeds United…

“I think coming into the game, we’re really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a tough game on a number of levels, but there’s no reason not to look forward to it.

“I think this is everything that the Championship is about, and we can have a look and see where we’re at this moment in time.

“The circumstances are difficult anyway, but when you are preparing for a game with less time to do so than your opponent and when there are significant differences, that makes things a little bit difficult as well but nothing to fear.

“They’ve got some quality in there and the quality that they possess throughout the side and throughout the squad is enviable, but they are where they are, because they’ve been in the Premier League very recently and they’ve built that right to have that squad available to them in the Championship.

“They’re trying to make that return and the challenges for us tomorrow are going to be varied, but we’re going to face those head on.”

Haji Wright’s form in recent weeks…

“You can see that he’s settling. He has had an impact and a growing impact in games and I think that is for everybody to see.

“Also, the movement of him and his teammates and the moves that we were sort of building have been pretty good, but it’s not just Haji, everybody seems to be settling a little bit and feeling a little bit more comfortable and confident.

“We have to be encouraged by that, because the signs are pretty good both in terms of the data that we see but also with our eyes when we’re watching the game.

“There’s some excitement in there and there’s some real quality in there as well and I think expectancy from the players within is growing so that’s a good thing.”
